Talking about possession

My / your etc.

masc. sing. feminine plural it means
mon mon / ma mes
my
ton ton / ta
tes
your
son son / sa
ses
his / hers / its / one's
notre
nos
our
votre
vos
your
leur
leurs their
The feminine versions has two options. I suggest that you use the one that makes the sentence flow better in speech rather than deciding whether it starts with a vowel or mute h for example:
mon ami = my (male) friend
mon amie = my (female) friend
there are probably exceptions with certain words beginning with h (my guess is haricot might be one of them since you have no liason with it - le haricot)
son orange = his / her orange - again the 'n' pushes across in speech
sa voiture = his / her car (using son wouldn't flow as well)

Remember that with any masculine noun you ALWAYS use mon / son etc. You push the 'n' across if there is a vowel sound in the next word.
leur / leurs may be confusing since leur can mean 'to them' so
Voulez-vous leur donner leur livre? = will you give (to) them their book?

Incidentally, c'est de ma faute = it is my fault

Mine / yours etc.

masc. sing. fem. sing masc. plural fem.plural it means
le mien la mienne les miens les miennes mine
le tien la tienne les tiens les tiennes yours
le sien la sienne les sien les siennes his / hers / its
le nôtre la nôtre les nôtres ours
le vôtre la vôtre les vôtres yours
le leur la leur les leurs theirs
the pattern is to add 's' at the end of the plurals and for the feminine, change the 'n' to 'ne' to make the 'n' audible

C'est à moi, etc. emphasizes the ownership of the object (sort of saying "THAT'S MINE!")
You still use 'à' in a question: à qui est ce manteau? = whose coat is this?
